WOW! The year is almost over. Have you gotten your last minute advertising specialty items. If you have not, there is still enough time to get them by the end of the year. Below are just a few that the industry has to offer.

Christmas

Jingle bells, Jingle bells... Oh, hi. I am just thinking about the upcoming holiday, Christmas that is. It has always been a fun time of the year for me but as I grow older it seems that it takes more work for me to find the joy in it. It must be an "age thing".

Our kids are eagerly anticipating the arrival of Santa. How fun it would be to have that feeling again. I suppose with the daily activities and responsibilities of being an adult, those type of things are not as important to us anymore.

Wouldn't it be great if we could actually anticipate the coming of Christ when he was a baby? I guess for those of us who have accepted the free gift of his love and have accepted him as a personal savior, we can live with the great expectation of his arrival when he comes back to earth to get those who believe in Him.

October!

October means baseball and have I seen some great games in this years ALDS and ALCS. No matter who one cheers for it is very exciting!

Speaking of exciting, now is the time to generate business through the end of the year using promotional products successfully. There are many items that can be utilized as the year end nears and the holidays come upon us.

Have you ever used greeting cards? We have many cards from Thanksgiving cards to Christmas cards. Also available are thank you cards for sending customers that all important note to tell them how much you value their business.

Remember too that many businesses give out items like the following: Pens, key tags, hats, knit caps and calendars.

Not only are the above items very popular and also inexpensive in most cases but they are a great way to reach many clients. Items such as food gifts, which are more expensive per item, are a great way to reward clients to tend to purchase more through a given business.

Whichever way a business reaches customers, it is always best to just get a business name "out there" whether it is on a $.48 pen or a $30.00 food gift.

Halloween II

Remember Halloween is right around the corner? Wow, it is hard to believe that October will be gone soon.

I have listed some items that are useful this time of year to keep kids safe but also to advertise your business.

Plastic trick or treat bags, glow sticks, flashlights, candy, halloween buckets, wrist bands for parties.

We also have the worlds largest halloween jack-o-lantern. It is filled with 60 - 90% licensed and name brand toys. These come with the registration box, entry blanks and posters for advertising the giveaway. It's a great way to increase traffic into you store or business.

Holiday Cards!

We are nearing the holiday season once again. It is hard to believe this year will be coming to a close soon.

As we near Thanksgiving and Christmas it is time to start thinking about getting those greeting cards ordered. Many people like to order cards for Thanksgiving rather than for Christmas since so many cards are sent for Christmas and seem to get lost in the shuffle. When a Thanksgiving card is sent, it is usually more well received than Christmas cards since there are not many of them sent.

Fall is Here

Well now that fall is here things will start to change along with the colors of the leaves. People will start to settle down into their fall/winter mode. This is the time of year when it is good to have winter gear in vehicles.

There are many types of specialty items one can have imprinted with a company logo including ice scrapers for those early morning frosty windows, emergency kits with first aid goods in case of an accident on slick roads. We can also get collapsible shovels that fit just right in even the smallest of trunks.

Remember too that when buying advertising specialty items that one can also include pens, notepads, stick-on calendars, appointment books, planners (for recording mileage for the road warrior). All of these things bear your advertising message.

Newton Mfg. Co.is 100!

Wow! Talk about a milestone achievement. Newton Manufacturing Company is 100 years old this month!

I just came back from a week long trip to the home office in Newton to celebrate with others in Newton, IA. I spoke with a lot of fellow sales reps and learned much from some of the suppliers that attended the trade show.

We were fed well and got to see many new advertising specialty items at the tradeshow. Let me name just a few. There were notepads, pens, frisbees, antibacterial gels, pencils, lanyards, food gifts, rings, watches, flashlights and totes. There were also letter openers, ice scrapers, calendars, pins, sticky notes and more.

I had a great time and am very pleased that my wife and I were able to participate in the celebration. Go Newton, 100 more years!

As the economy slowly starts to recover, so do car sales. A "big ticket" items is not easy to sell in a tough economy but as things start to turnaround they become more popular again.

Items that are great give aways for car dealers are key tags, calendars, pens and jackets. A lot of dealers use floor mats with their imprint as well as decals that identify where a car was purchased and license frames or plates.

Wow! Here we are again in the fall of the year. Can you believe that halloween is just around the corner? Whether one likes to admit it or not, halloween makes October one of the largest grossing months of the year for retail businesses.

There is a huge market for getting a business name on items that are handed out to kids. Now days there are more and more places that host kids for fun and games and of course candy, keeping kids off the streets during the dark hours. For those who wish to sponsor an event there is nothing better than putting the name of that business or organization on items that get into kids' hands and ultimately into the hands of their parents.

A Healthy Exchange

There is a nationwide effort to transition away from the use of mercury based thermometers because of the potential hazards they pose to health and the environment. Local businesses and local government have taken a proactive approach in contributing to this effort and promoting their involvement in community oriented initiatives by sponsoring thermometer exchange programs.

The idea is that the local bank, insurance agency, or county heath department partners with hospitals or clinics in the area to promote and host a thermometer exchange program. The idea is that any resident in the community that brings in a mercury thermometer will receive a brand new digital thermometer for free. Usually the health center acts as the host and the business partners sponsors the thermometers. The business sponsor’s logo is imprinted on the thermometer and communicates a very positive, community minded messages to the recipient.
